WE WANT YOUR BUTTS! Or at least a chance to chat with you about how to dispose/recycle cigarette butts properly! We’ll be in the courtyard at the Oak Ridge Recreation Center for Atomic Fall Fest this Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27.
Thanks to a grant from Keep America Beautiful, and in conjunction with Terracycle, we are hoping to place cigarette butt receptacles in Anderson County where they are most needed.
Stop by our booth to share your ideas and possibly join us in keeping Anderson County clean and beautiful from all types of litter!
Then stay to enjoy the all the Fest has to offer as entertainment for children and adults!

The Litter Problem
Tennessee has an average of 5,100 pieces of litter per mile on urban freeways. Thirty percent is deliberate litter from people in vehicles and 70% is negligent litter from unsecured loads. Last year over 8 million dollars was spent on cleanup in Tennessee. Keep Anderson County Beautiful (KACB) is an affiliate of Keep Tennessee and Keep America Beautiful.
KACB is a volunteer-based educational agency focusing on the Anderson County community: litter prevention; beautification and community improvement; and solid waste management/recycling. Keep Anderson County Beautiful serves Anderson County, TN; including Clinton, Oak Ridge, Norris, Rocky Top, and Oliver Springs.

Grist Mill at Norris Dam

Norris Dam state park is a lovely place that includes this Grist Mill, and a museum of local artifacts.
Walden Ridge
James Rome
Walden Ridge gives a great view all the way to the Smokies. It also has wonderful rock formations.
There is a road to the top of Walden Ridge off of Dutch Valley Road. There is a small sign saying "Fire Tower" at the foot of the road.
